Computers
can provide highly effective learning opportunities for children. Social
development can be promoted through the use of computers by arranging it
so that children can work in pairs or groups. Including computers in the
classroom is also an important step in ensuring equal opportunities for
all children. Many children today have access to and are familiar with
home computers. Many others - particularly those from low income families
- have no exposure to computers at home and are therefore at a disadvantage.
Because there is little doubt that society's need for a computer literate
population will only increase over time, including computers in your classroom
may be an important step in ensuring that all children have equal opportunities
to become comfortable with this technology.
